Title: Complex-lag polynomial Wigner-Ville distribution

Abstract: This paper introduces a fourth order polynomial Wigner-Ville distribution (PWVD) which uses complex time lags to achieve optimal energy concentration for signals with non-linear FM laws. It is shown that the new complex-time fourth order PWVD provides an unbiased estimate of the instantaneous frequency of signals with polynomial phases up to order four.
Description: This paper presents a time-frequency distribution with complex lags. (The most recent upgrade of the original software package that calculates Time-Frequency Distributions and Instantaneous Frequency estimators can be downloaded from the web site: www.time-frequency.net. This was the first software developed in the field, and it was first released publicly in 1987 at the 1st ISSPA conference held in Brisbane, Australia., and then continuously updated).
