This is the earliest Article that presented a general approach to the computation of the time-frequency energy distributions based on the quadratic class of t-f distributions, including the key principal steps of this approach with illustrations with the code fragments. The final section ( briefly described a signal analysis package written by the authors and their colleagues which utilizes most of the
techniques presented.)
