dc.description This paper described the first time-frequency Matlab toolbox; this TFSA software analysis package is able to analyse the class of non-stationary signals. This was first released in 1987, and since then continuously updated. (Additional details can be found in the comprehensive book on Time-Frequency Signal Analysis and Processing (see http://www.elsevier.com/locate/isbn/0080443354). In addition, the most recent upgrade of the original software package that calculates Time-Frequency Distributions and Instantaneous Frequency estimators can be downloaded from the web site: www.time-frequency.net. This was the first software developed in the field, and it was first released publicly in 1987 at the 1st ISSPA conference held in Brisbane, Australia, and then continuously updated).
dc.description.abstract Time-frequency signal analysis (TFSA) tools find important applications to many fields including radar, sonar, geophysics and biomedicine. Their use is motivated by the fact that the time-frequency representation of a non-stationary signal often provides valuable insight and information over and above more traditional analysis methods which assume stationarity. In this paper, we describe a software package which has been developed to analyse non-stationary signals using TFSA tools. en_US
