dc.description.abstract Ultrasonic technique using an automated C-scan has been established as the primary inspection method for composite materials. In this paper, the principles of ultrasonic inspection, the type of defects that may be generated during fabrication and/or during service of fibre-reinforced composites and their detection using ultrasonic techniques are described. Emphasis is placed on the capabilities and limitations of ultrasonic techniques in testing composites. The material used in the present study was graphite/epoxy. en_US
