dc.description.abstract Simple closed–form expressions for the probability of error for nonuniform M–ary Differential Amplitude Phase–Shift–Key (DAPSK) signaling over an Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and Rayleigh fading channels are presented. Nonuniform M–DAPSK is shown to be useful for multimedia communication and multicast transmission. The performance of nonuniform M–DAPSK with punctured convolutional coding is presented. The results show that the coding can be used with nonuniform M–DAPSK modulation to transmit additional message in mobile communication systems with little degradation to the basic message en_US
