dc.description.abstract In this paper, an assessment of the performance of one of the multistage flash (MSF) desalination units operating in conjunction with the gas-turbine cogenera-tion power plant in Qatar is carried out under different operating conditions. Drop in performance represented by the decrease in the gained output ratio and the increase in energy input per unit distillate as a function of time is evaluated. An empirical correlation for the unit output is presented taking into account the effect of thermal losses as related to stages average temperature in addition to the direct effects of both the recirculated flow rate and flash range. en_US
