Fitted Galerkin spectral method to solve delay partial differential equations
Abstract
In this paper, we consider a class of parabolic partial differential equations with a time delay. The first model equation is the mixed problems for scalar generalized diffusion equation with a delay, whereas the second model equation is a delayed reaction-diffusion equation. Both of these models have inherent complex nature because of which their analytical solutions are hardly obtainable, and therefore, one has to seek numerical treatments for their approximate solutions. To this end, we develop a fitted Galerkin spectral method for solving this problem. We derive optimal error estimates based on weak formulations for the fully discrete problems. Some numerical experiments are also provided at the end. Copyright 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Copyright 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

State-dependent adaptive dynamic programing for a class of continuous-time nonlinear systems
Batmani, Yazdan; Davoodi, Mohammadrez; Meskin, Nader ( Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. , 2016 , Conference Paper)The state-dependent Riccati equation (SDRE) technique can be used to solve optimal control problems for a wide class of nonlinear dynamical systems. In this method, instead of solving a complicated Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman ... -
Solving fractional diffusion and wave equations by modified homotopy perturbation method
Jafari, Hossein; Momani, Shaher ( Elsevier B.V. , 2007 , Article)This Letter applies the modified He's homotopy perturbation method (HPM) suggested by Momani and Odibat to obtaining solutions of linear and nonlinear fractional diffusion and wave equations. The fractional derivative is ... -
Axisymmetric Powell-Eyring fluid flow with convective boundary condition: optimal analysis
Hayat, T.; Makhdoom, S.; Awais, M.; Saleem, S.; Rashidi, M. M. ( Springer Netherlands , 2016 , Article)The effects of axisymmetric flow of a Powell-Eyring fluid over an impermeable radially stretching surface are presented. Characteristics of the heat transfer process are analyzed with a more realistic condition named the ...
