The transformation from a main street in a hellenistic city called BERRHOEA into the suq of Aleppo: 1) Hellenistic paved way with colonades and large shops behind them 2) The shops occupy the colonade becoming smaller in the process, and even encroach upon the paved way 3) The paving stones are taken up and used for building. The public way is occupied by dwellings or shops and the road diverges along the original colonades
