Alternative AbstractThe primary objective of this study is to assess the psychometric properties of the Arabic version of Beck Anxiety Inventory. The study was conducted in two phases. During first phase, the instrument was administered to a sample of university students (n=188) to assess readability, clarity, and initial properties of the items. The second phase utilized a sample of 370 university students and a sample of psychiatric outpatients (n=36). Both test-retest reliability and internal consistency estimates were established. Concurrent, discriminate and construct validity indices were also established. Finally, norms were computed. The overall findings suggest the suitability of the instrument to be used in United Arab Emirates culture.
