Abstract
Thanks to the authors of the letter to the editor and their thoughtful comments on our study (BiBi et al. 2025), which compared phenol versus bisphenol-A (BPA) adsorption to activated carbon (AC) and graphene oxide (GO). We are pleased that they are interested in our work, and we would like to elaborate on the same. Our comparative study was not aimed at assuming that AC and GO can be used functionally as adsorbents. Instead, we chose these two commonly researched carbon-based materials to determine the effect of surface chemistry, hydrophilicity, and structural organization differences on the adsorption behavior when subjected to the same experimental conditions. This methodological comparison will bring about a controlled performance pattern benchmark, especially in the saline and variable pH situations.
