Museums in Qatar: An educational role in the twenty-first century
Abstract
This article addresses the focus of museum sectors in Doha, Qatar in relation to their educational role. This role can be linked to the opening of the Education Centre (EC) at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in fall 2009, an event with the intention of enhancing the relationship between museums and communities in Doha, facilitating the endeavour of museums to position themselves as educational institutions. The MIA vision followed certain objectives, including to inspire and offer information about Qatar's past, present and future to its participants.
