AbstractFlipped classroom pedagogy have gained attention in recent years. This paper reports our study on the attitudes of students towards flipped classroom in introductory programming. Surveys were used to measure the perception using many factors. The study explores the effect of flipped classroom on increasing student-student and student-instructor interaction, ability of student to self-pace through the course, increase the motivation to learn programming. In addition, overall evaluation of the flipped classroom is presented. Flipped classroom provided greater opportunities for communication, more motivation to study programming, and appreciated more by the students who like self-pace. The overall sentiment is positive but still 29.4% of students prefer the traditional teacher led classes. - 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
