| Alternative Abstract | This study is concerned with analyzing the anti-westernization milestones in (Safwatul aathar wal mafaheem Tafsir of the holy Qur’an),
authored by, Sheikh Abdul-Rahman bin Muhammad al-Dosari - may Allah have mercy on him–
the study meant to answer a main question, which is: How haveSheikh AL-Dosari -
in his exegesis of the Qur’an -discussed the matter of westernizing Muslim societies, in terms of causes, methods of prevention ,and means of treatment?
The study aims to explain the meaning of Westernization, its goal, means, and its negative impact on the Muslim nation, and it points out the efforts of some scholars in providing descriptions and means of resisting, while highlighting the book as well ,for it is one of the great Tafsir that have not been given the proper attention regarding the Academic field, therefore it is required to mention Author methodology, and to knowledge his efforts of resisting westernization.
The study consists of three chapters and a conclusion. the first chapter focused on the author, Sheikh Abdul-Rahman AL-Dosari, in terms of his grow origins, his knowledge-seeking, and his distinctive characteristics, furthermore the sources on which he relied and his methodology in that.
The second chapter is about the concept of Westernization from three aspects: the languifical aspect, the West context aspect and in the Arab Islamic context, then I have mentioned its various goals and means which are: cultural, intellectual, educational, media, economic, political, and military.
As for the third chapter, I explained the milestones of anti-westernization in this (Tafsir), where I studied the author’s exegesis of the verses of the Islamic faith by studying the verses that speak of believing in the unseen, the verses that speak of loyalty and Innocence (from disbelief), and the verses that state the necessity of ruling people by Allah's revelation, I also explained these milestones throughout his exegesis of the verses of the Qur’anic stories, as shortened with some examples, I did the same with exegesis of the verses of rulings such as retribution, wills, fasting, jihad .
Among the most important findings that I have come up with: that the contents of this book were characterized by a rich scientific material and modern topics of interest to researchers, and that Sheikh Abdul-Rahman Al-Dosari- may Allah have mercy on him - is one of the scholars who were distinguished by their intelligence, their prey, and their understanding of the reality of Islamic nation. And that he was keen to resist Westernization in his Tafsir, by exposing their means and aims ,and through supporting beliefs that protect from the luster of materialism, and faith that keeps one from drifting behind perverted ideas, and by refuting the suspicions claimed by westerner, as well as defeating them with the evidences of both faith and Logic.
And that The Sheikh’s role was complementary to that of the scholars who preceded him in intellectual and social interpretation in general, and the issue of westernization in particular. |
