الملخصThis conclusion presents some closing thoughts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book provides good examples of the different purposes and levels of integrating technology in teaching. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region has its unique challenges. For instance, education faculties and teacher education programmes are among the developing sectors in the region's universities. Lecture-based teaching methods are duplicated when using e-learning technologies in teaching. The GCC countries have large percentage of young students who are technology literate and they are comfortable using the emerging technologies, especially mobile technologies and social media. These young students will demand that education be delivered thus the need to use sound pedagogical models. GCC countries, like many others, face the traditional challenges of an increased number of students in public and higher education systems, difficulty in recruiting highly qualified teachers, especially in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and increasing level of dis-satisfaction rates among students and parents.
