AbstractThis work deals with the linear-quadratic control problem for a non-isothermal packed-bed catalytic reactor, which is described by coupled hyperbolic and parabolic partial differential equations model. The classical Riccati equation approach, in the infinite-dimensional setting, is adopted. An optimal LQ-feedback is computed via the eigenvalues and the eigenfunctions of the parabolic subsystem, while a differential Riccati equation is derived for the hyperbolic subsystem. Numerical simulations are performed to show the performance of the designed controller on non-linear reactor system. 2016 IEEE.
