AbstractI am grateful to Dr. Raquib for her insightful commentary and to Philosophy and Technology for facilitating this scholarly discourse. Dr. Raquib's critique raises several fundamental concerns about the conceptual foundations and methodologies of my research on the intersection of AI and Islamic ethics. In addressing these critiques, I will discuss four key areas where Dr. Raquib’s perspectives intersect with, and challenge, the arguments in my paper. These areas include the conceptual interpretation of Maṣlaḥa, the interdisciplinary understanding of AI, the representation of standard Islamic values in the context of AI, and the application of Islamic jurisprudence in assessing AI technologies.
