Abstract | The world currently relies heavily on non-renewable energy, which is unable to sustain the needs of 7 billion people in the next 50 years. This paper discusses the use of an alternative fuel, Dimethyl ether (DME), which is a sustainable option. The proposed project can be used as a case study for the future development sustainable energy sector in Malaysia. The economic study aspect as well as the technological aspect of this future development is discussed and is the main focus of this project. A Hysys model is built to replicate the proposed system. The project caters to the front tier of sustainable wind energy and the empty fruit bunch (EFB), which is one of the main products in powering the DME plant. Malaysia is rich in both products, thus, they will help to boost the local economy even further. The proposed plant indicated via the intensive economic study, proves that it will be able to generate a steady income of almost 5% yearly within the next 20 years. An overview of the methods used in the economic study of the general principle process of production as well as the overall economic study indicating a steady and booming economic growth, is discussed further in the paper. |
