الملخص | The detrimental consequences of increased greenhouse gases have disrupted the equilibrium of our environment. However, amidst these challenges, innovative solutions have emerged where metal organic frameworks (MOF) integrated with waste in air purification present a promising avenue for addressing these repercussions. This study assesses the feasibility of integrated MOFS as low-cost CO2 adsorbents. Specifically, ZIF-8 and MIL-53(Al) were synthesised and assessed for their adsorption performance. To the best of our knowledge, the use of rice husk-derived MOF structures as CO2 capture systems is limited. Results show that ZIF-8 had high CO2 adsorption performance due to hydroxyl groups incorporated from waste. Meanwhile, MIL-53(Al) showed the lowest CO2 uptake after modification. However, it exhibited greater thermal stability and higher surface area than the pristine form. Despite these variations, this study highlights the potential of waste-derived MOF-based systems by mitigating CO2 and promoting sustainable waste management. |
