Charting the Future of GCC Entrepreneurship: Insights for Education and Incubation Centers from the UK, Turkey, and the Region
Abstract
This chapter underscores the critical role of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and development in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. It emphasises two key mechanisms for promoting entrepreneurship: entrepreneurship education and incubation centres/business acceleration programmes. Specifically, the chapter focuses on the policy implications and orientations derived from an in-depth study conducted across diverse contexts, including the UK, Turkey, UAE, and Qatar, to inform and guide GCC policy-makers. By examining the barriers to entrepreneurship, designing effective entrepreneurship education programmes, and presenting case studies, this chapter provides valuable insights for crafting and implementing impactful policies. It highlights the need for tailored approaches to address the unique challenges faced by GCC nations and underscores the importance of context in entrepreneurship education. Ultimately, the chapter seeks to empower policy-makers. The goal is to strengthen entrepreneurship ecosystems in the GCC region, driving sustainable economic growth, job creation, and prosperity through informed policy choices.
