AbstractThere is a general trend towards the decentralization of mobile operator networks. Such network decentralization will not be efficient without rethinking mobility management schemes, particularly for users moving for a long distance and/or at a high speed (e.g., vehicles). To support such highly mobile users, this paper introduces a data anchor gateway relocation method based on user mobility, history information, and user activity patterns. The performance of the proposed schemes is evaluated through simulations and encouraging results are obtained.
