AbstractThe increasing demand for reliable mobile services with faster communications speed requires high capital investment in the radio access networks. This leads to enormous energy consumption, high operational costs (OPEX), and also environmental and human concerns due to electromagnetic pollution. Hence, in a multi-operator environment, selecting the most efficient strategy among operators can tackle these issues and reach substantial impacts. To guarantee energy savings and achieve OPEX reductions, inter-operator cooperation seems to be a promising alternative solutions. In this paper, we mainly target next generation cellular networks (specially LTE-A). We propose a new cooperative green algorithm for a possibility to mitigate the total Radio Frequency (RF) transmission by sleeping a number of eNodeBs without degrading specific Quality of Service (QoS) indicators. Thus, we will study the different scenarios for intra- and inter-operator cooperation in order to determine the best solution for minimum RF transmissions with acceptable QoS.
