This thesis is aimed to analyze Qatar's foreign aid to the Sub-Saharan countries
especially in terms of educational aid over the period of (2013-2019). It highlights the
evolution of Qatar's educational aid to the Sub-Saharan countries in terms of volume,
factors and top recipients and it demonstrates the nature of Qatar's foreign aid to Africa
under the period of the study. The first part of the thesis discusses the relevant literature
on foreign aid and its conceptual framework. The second part looks at the Gulf aid with
the focus on Qatar's foreign aid. Finally, the thesis presents the findings and analysis
of the research questions. In terms of methods, the thesis relied on primary reports that Qatar development agencies published, and the secondary resources collected from libraries, and databases.
Furthermore, the thesis contributes to the literature on Qatar's foreign aid and helps
policymakers to improve the country's foreign assistance policy. Although Qatar is
considered one of the top donors in the Middle East, there are still limited studies that
discuss Qatar's foreign aid. As a result, this study aims to enrich the literature that
discuss the relationship between Qatar and the Sub-Saharan Africa in terms of foreign
aid and particularly educational aid. Moreover, the recommendations of the study will
help the policy makers of Qatar's foreign aid.
