    Abstract
Switched capacitor (SC) networks are generally used to increase the voltage gain of inverters. This work proposes a single-phase switched capacitor multilevel inverter (MLI) capable of producing 13 levels of output voltage with a gain of 3. It consists of a single dc source with three floating capacitors charged in the ratio of 1:1:0.5. Capacitors C1 and C2 are charged through the dc input source while C3 is charged and discharged through the load. All three capacitors are self-balanced, thereby no other circuitry is needed to maintain voltage across capacitors. To indicate the merits of the proposed topology a comprehensive detailed comparison is carried out with other recent 13 levels of SCMLI topologies. The total harmonic distortion (THD) in output voltage is 5.5% which is under limits as per IEEE- 519 -2014 standard. The THD can further be reduced to allowable limits with the help of a small filter. Experimental findings show that the suggested switched capacitor multilevel inverter topology is operational in the steady state and as well as in dynamic loading circumstances 2023 IEEE.
