AbstractThis study aims to assess the degree to which Qatari leaders are aware of the managerial skills and leadership competencies that they should possess on one hand and the actual availability of these skills and competencies among them on another. To achieve this goal, the researcher employs Ooredoo a pioneering telecommunication in the Qatari market, as a case study. The research method was descriptive in nature and conducted using of primary data in from of semi -structured interviews and secondary data obtained from available literature. As such , all data used in this research is qualitative and the research model as a whole is the case study model. Ten managerial skills and leadership competencies were derived from the literature review and used as a base for the interviews questions. A basic verification/ comparison method was used to analyze the interviews responses . The result shows that Qatari managers in Ooredoo are aware of the identified managerial skills and leadership competencies and that they are available in a minimum level of "Neutral to Strong" in each one of them. In light of the results, recommendations were formulate for Ooredoo organizations as well as the country as whole. The Ooredoo specific organization included improving the managerial and leadership skills to address current management and leadership challenges. The recommendations that are of the country level included creating a nation-wide management and leadership form and creating a national benchmark for managerial skills and leadership competencies.
