SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THE FIFA WORLD CUP QATAR 2022
Abstract
This study examines the relationship between the post-event socio-economic impact and the community participation in the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar in garnering community support from the perspectives of local residents and citizens. By utilizing a survey instrument, a total of 260 responses were collected and subjected to regression analysis to examine these associations. The findings reveal that community support is primarily influenced by the social impact of the event, followed by community participation, while the economic impact plays a lesser role. The study's insights provide valuable guidance for event organizers and policymakers, contributing to a better understanding of the factors that contribute to community support for mega-events. This knowledge can inform future planning and decision-making processes, ensuring a more comprehensive and inclusive approach to hosting mega-events.
