| Abstract | Digitization is an efficient means of preserving the rare historical records led to the development of a large number of digital libraries across the world. Choice of the suitable imaging equipment, storage format, and proper accessibility of the digitized materials are the different key components in building a digital library. In this paper, we briefly reviewed the various trends in the selection of capture devices in document imaging. Moreover the importance of multispectral imaging in the case of damaged and barely legible historical documents is discussed. We also gave a case study using a multispectral camera and digital cameras. Comparisons of result obtained shows in which application each type of camera is most suitable. |
