Role of e-voting system for void of errors in the electoral manipulations: a case study of Nigeria
Abstract
The study of the political and social developments in Nigeria since its independence could not prove that stability is established in the country. Researchers proclaim many reasons for this condition. One of such conditions is the inefficient management of elections. Having understood the significance of the fraud-free election system in deciding the fate of the country, the present research aims to design and develop an electoral system that is free from errors and electoral manipulations right from the registration phase all through the entire voting cycle. A group of 600 Nigerian university students is selected at random for the study, and a prototype is designed for the e-voting system. Using the prototype, various scenarios are developed and tested with statistical support. In addition to the scenarios, feedback is obtained using the questionnaire. There are five important constructs: security, transparency, election history, infrastructure, and legal framework. Support of software and hardware, prototype architectural design, use case, class diagram and model of the feedback system is taken for the research work. The feedback is collected with the help of a questionnaire to test the credibility of the election result.
