    Abstract
A strong argument for the need of a systematic road map to the Universities of the Future, in the context of radical disruptions such as globalization, the COVID-19 pandemic, and its resultant virtual learning trends, is made. The situation of social sciences and humanities is analyzed by appraising them in the context of current universities. The role of state perception is discussed here. A description and conceptual framework for Future University are provided by analyzing the existing arguments, contentions, and challenges faced by social sciences and humanities in the academic world. The future of social sciences is discussed and deliberated while briefly touching upon its importance and undying appeal. Consequently, asking why particular degrees are needed? Are there ample job opportunities that have job profiles which match the knowledge and skills acquired from the degrees? To what extent do the existing degrees serve larger purposes, such as contributing to the national development? Most importantly, will the Future Universities would continue on the same track of their predecessors? Would Future Universities go beyond knowledge and skills? Would they go beyond the general perception of degree being a means to a job opportunity? How can social sciences survive the current lull it is experiencing and transform to a stage wherein it can exert a real presence and impact in the Future University?.
