AbstractState of the art planning tools rely on intricate simulation models and metaheuristic approaches to determine the optimal azimuth angle of each sector in a system. The process is highly time consuming and the quality of outcome is heavily dependent on the practitioner's experience in setting input parameters. To address this problem, in this paper we exploit a mathematical approach and develop a system model that ultimately helps to obtain a low complexity analytical solution. In addition to providing insights into system behaviour as function of azimuth angles, the potential performance gain of the proposed optimisation solution is investigated through extensive numerical results.
