Abstract | As making the right decision is a key element in autonomous driving systems, perfect knowledge of the traffic environment is necessary in order to avoid dangerous situations. Autonomous vehicles rely on a set of sensors to discover their local environment. However, these sensors are limited by range and weather conditions. Hence, they could not help for all conditions and roadway scenarios. Therefore, a new accurate and realistic technology for localization is needed. Recently, HD maps has emerged as a technology that increases the environment awareness of autonomous vehicles. Nevertheless, data of HD maps is highly dynamic and need to be always up-to-date. In this paper, we will review the used techniques for updating HD maps. |
