Abstract | Wirelessly connected devices play a vital role in people's daily life, especially with the significant rise in the number of devices connected to the Internet and the huge data being generated everyday. However, the open nature of the wireless channels makes them vulnerable to several threats. One of these major threats is jamming attacks which try to disrupt the reception of the useful signal by a receiver. In this paper, we propose a physical layer security anti-jamming method using massive planar antenna arrays. A receiver is assumed to perform anti-jamming against a single jammer trying to degrade the communication link between two parties. A large database of possible antenna array configurations with different radiation patterns is generated. Two methods are proposed for searching through the database. In the first, searching through the database gives the configuration with the deepest null towards the jammer, while in the second, we identify the configuration with the largest maximum to null ratio. The signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio is the chosen metric of performance for evaluating the chosen array configurations by both methods. Supporting simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed anti-jamming strategy. |
