This paper investigates radio resource management for internet of things (IoT) networks with application to bandwidth constrained scenarios, e.g., in rural and under-privileged areas. An algorithm for efficient IoT resource allocation is derived and shown to be able to serve a large number of devices. In addition, a virtual reality (VR) for mHealth use case is considered in the studied bandwidth constrained scenarios, where medical personnel might need to use VR to provide guidance to remotely monitored patients in rural areas. An approach to accommodate VR traffic alongside IoT traffic is proposed and analyzed. The proposed approach is shown to reduce the impact on IoT traffic in the case of limited bandwidth while allowing remote monitoring in real-time during emeragency situations.
