Abstract | Internal and external assessment are crucial ingredients to a successful strategy in a competitive and volatile environment. This case looks at a similar challenge faced by Khalid, Chairman of the Gulf National Islamic Bank (GNIB) that had experienced consistent growth across all its operating indicators up until 2006. However, in 2006, GNIB experienced increasing competition and in 2008, external conditions became less favorable due to the economic crisis. The case depicts Khalid’s struggle in keeping GNIB profitable through these environmental changes and questions the reader on potential solutions that Khalid can head towards as he approaches the 2013 Annual General Assembly Meeting. |
