AbstractDistributed base stations are studied in the framework of LTE public safety networks. In the proposed model, users are connected to remote radio heads deployed throughout the cell and connected to a central base station. In this paper, resource allocation for the purpose of real-time video transmission, in the uplink and downlink, is investigated, and the performance of several distributed base station deployment scenarios is compared. Simulation results show that significant throughput gains can be achieved with distributed base stations. In addition, results show that the quality of service for real-time video streaming can be largely enhanced due to the reduction of loss distortion.
