AbstractThe lubricating performances liquid lubricants can be enhanced by homogeneously dispersing nanoparticles as an additive and it is estimated by mechanico-dynamical test. Four-ball wear test is a standard mechanico-dynamical test used to evaluate the lubricating performances of conventional liquid lubricants by determining the lubricity properties such as wear ring width rotating top ball, load wear index of stationary lower balls and their surface texture modifications. Lubricity is the fluid property that characterizes friction and wear phenomenon in boundary lubrication regime. In this study, a methodology for estimating the lubricity properties of nanolubricants is discussed.
