| Abstract | يتناول هذا البحث محنة اللغة العربية في بلاد العرب باعتبارها قضية سياسية، وصراع هوية ضمن علاقات قوة وهيمنة، لا باعتبارها إشكالية لغوية. حيث أدت لغة القوة إلى استقواء اللغات الغربية على اللغة العربية في أرضها. ويستلهم البحث أفكار عدد من علماء العرب الأقدمين بشأن العلاقة بين اللغة والقوة السياسية، وبشأن تزاحم اللغات، كما يستلهم عددا من مفاهيم علم اللغة الاجتماعي المعاصر، ليبيِّن أثر الازدواجية اللغوية على اللُّحمة الاجتماعية والهوية والولاء، داعيا إلى التصدي لمنطق القوة المفروض على البلاد العربية عبر اقتحام اللغات الغربية لفضائها الثقافي، وإلى التفهم والإنصاف في التعامل مع لغات الأقليات غير العربية في الدول العربية. |

| Alternative Abstract | This article tackles the ordeal of Arabic language in the Arab lands, not as a linguistic challenge, but as a clash for power that led to the domination of Western language at the expense of Arabic. Inspired by the theories of classical Arab thinkers on language and power relations, and by modern theories of sociolinguistics, the article explains the impact of bilingualism on identity and loyalty, and pleas for facing the forceful intrusion of Western languages in the Arab cultural space, and to more inclusiveness and fairness towards the minority languages in the Arab world. |
