INTRODUCTION:
The unjust and surprising Qatar blockade may be considered the most
important event in the country's contemporary history, given its essential
political, economic and social impacts on Qatar’s present and future. After
that the “Qatari ship” has successfully overcome the storm, it is now
necessary to consider the ensuing challenges and opportunities that
would shape the new Qatar. Therefore, Qatar University, represented by
SESRI, engaged in conducting a comprehensive national study using the
most accurate scientific research methodologies to explore Qataris’
political, economic and social attitudes towards the developments
resulting from the crisis, and draw the main conclusions to provide
recommendations to decision makers in Qatar.
The present report outlines the results of dozens of carefully selected
indicators and compares them with previous results, if any, to explore the
crisis impact on Qataris’ views and perceptions. The report is divided into
5 parts as follows:
• The Legal Implications
• The Political Implications
• The Economic Implications
• The Social Implications
• Implications on Human Development
This report summarizes the main findings of the study. The data collected
will undoubtedly constitute information wealth that will be built upon in the
next phases, particularly in documenting the social, economic and political
transformations in the Qatari society due to local and regional events,
especially the Qatar Blockade.
