الملخص | Qatar is a pleasant Arab country in the Middle East with high regional and international profiles. It is a small country in terms of geography and demography and has a relatively modern legal system. The legislative power in the State of Qatar is exercised by his highness the Emir and the Shura Council with certain legislative competences exercised by the government. Qatar’s priorities are clear and cover a wide range of aspects, to foster and enhance human, social economic and environmental development and transform Qatar into advanced society capable of achieving sustainable development and securing a high standard of living for its people for generations to come. Many environmental laws and bylaws are now in place in Qatar to protect the environment. These legislative instruments need a full review to ensure efficiency, comprehensiveness. Moreover, the full review of Qatari environmental legislative pack is due to maintain its modernity and conformity with international standards in this regards. This study attempts to outline the main gaps that need actions to achieve Qatar’s environmental objectives and meet the state’s international commitments. |
