Space vector pulse width modulation techniques for a five-phase impedeance source and quazi impedeance source inverters
Abstract
Impedance source inverter (ZSI) and its variant quasi impedance source inverter (qZSI) are single stage inverters that transform dc to ac and boost the source voltage at the same time. These topologies have attracted great attention of researchers in recent times. This paper proposes space vector pulse width modulation (SVM) techniques to control ZSI and qZSI. The proposed SVM is equally applicable to both ZSI and qZSI. Three new methods has been developed and validated through simulation with 10 large space vectors utilization only and one method with 20 vectors (10 large and 10 medium). The technique depending on dividing the shoot through period in each control cycle into several smaller periods which produce more efficiency and less voltage stress among the five legs of the inverter. Comparison is done for gain ratio, Total harmonic distortion and dc link voltage ripple for the proposed SVM methods.
