Abstract | Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was used to simulate the flow field over a GMC sierra pickup truck double cab (manufactured year of 2005). This simulation model was compared to a previous simulation and experimental comparison by General Motors employees Yang and Khalighi [1]. Detailed comparison was carried out between both simulations analyses and the experimental results. Based on the findings and the results, I have studied two diffident enhanced models concentrating on the area of interest on the pickup trucks in general "the bed". Those new designs were simulated using a CFD tool and the results were validated against the original model simulation and experimental study. All the models were compared in various locations in terms of pressure, velocity, wake flow and drag coefficients. |
