| Abstract | يعنى هذا البحث بدراسة أحد عوائق الحوار الإسلامي المسيحي متمثلا في الذاكرة التاريخية، بهدف استجلاء التصورات الذهنية عن الإسلام والمسلمين في الفكر المسيحي نتيجة الفتوحات الإسلامية، وباستخدام المنهج التاريخي والوصفي والتحليلي توصل البحث إلى عدة نتائج أهمها: أن الذاكرة التاريخية ستظل تمثل عائقا أمام الحوار ما لم يتم إعادة تقييم التصورات المتشكلة عن الآخر من خلالها، وأن الذاكرة التاريخية وإن كانت ترجع إلى الماضي إلا أنها تنتج وعيا حاضرا في أذهاننا، وأن الذاكرة التاريخية إما أن تكون كنزا من المعرفة والخبرة أو ذخيرة لهدم الحاضر. |

| Alternative Abstract | This research studies a crippling factor of the Islamic – Christian dialogue, which is the historical memory. It aims to clarify the perceptions that were built in the Christian mind about Muslims and Islam after the Islamic conquests. Using the historical, the descriptive, and the analytical method, the research comes to a result that the historical memory will remain a barrier to the Islamic – Christian dialogue if the perceptions about the other were not reevaluated. In addition, even though the historical memory refers to the past, it has an impact on our perceptions and minds. Moreover, the research finds that the historical memory could be a treasure of knowledge and experience, or an ammunition to demolish the present. |
