Abstract | While the behaviour of individuals impacts on the environment, institutional attitudes may be more damaging. Government policies and private sector initiatives result in large-scale construction and industrial projects, such as building on land reclaimed from the sea, with enormous environmental impacts. Unless and until companies and others are encouraged to reinstate land damaged by their activities and support conservation measures, there would appear to be no end in sight to Qatar’s irreparable ecological damage. |
