الملخصMega events like the Olympic Games and World Cup pose transportation challenges and can drastically impact host cities' travel patterns and infrastructure due to the influx of visitors. This thesis examines the impact of such events, focusing on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (FWC2022). Qatar implemented Travel Demand Management (TDM) measures to manage high travel demand during FWC2022. The study evaluates the effectiveness of these measures in influencing Qatar's population's travel behavior. By merging qualitative surveys and travel data analysis, the study unveils sustainable mode shifts, marked by increased metro use and reduced car travel, driven by changes in routes and trip frequency across various purposes. While interventions like public transport fare discounts were effective, others, like 'Provision of Dedicated Bus Lanes,' had minimal impact. Tailored TDM approaches considering sociodemographic factors are crucial, along with public campaigns and investments in PT infrastructure to promote sustainable mobility shifts during mega events and beyond.
