Abstract | Nanoscale polymer-based coatings have become center of importance in present day's materials research. Because of their unique properties, such as less weight, ductility, and ease of manufacture, polymer-based films are regarded as emerging technologies in coatings, paints, packaging, drug encapsulation, and biomedical engineering scaffolds. For the production of functionalized coatings, a nanoscale polymer provides a low-cost and safe base material. A strong scientific foundation is needed if such materials are to be developed and used effectively for engineering applications. Understanding the mechanisms for producing composite materials with strong interfaces is very crucial. Spectroscopic technique (FTIR, Raman, NMR, UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, Photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL)) are used to characterize the structure and properties of the materials. This chapter is aimed to provide a brief idea on the spectroscopic techniques used to characterize the nanocomposite coatings and the structural and functional interferences obtained from such tools. |
