The structure of tetraketones in the solid state: the crystal structure of 1,6- Diphenylhexane-1,3,4,6-tetrone

Abstract

The crystal structure of l,6-diphenylhexane-l,3,4,6-tetrone was determined, CjgHi4O4, M 294.31 monoclinic, space group P2j/n (# 14), a 5.1192 (6) A, b 9.085 (9) A, c 15.366 (4) A, b 97.91 (4)°, p (calc) 1.362 g/cm3, Z 2, F(000) 308, (i (Mo K a>3 0.90cm" . The structure was solved by direct methods and refined to a final R value of 0.045 for 1364 unique reflections. The molecules of the compound are found in the dienol form.
