    Abstract
The presentation first gives an overview on the evolution of Lean Construction hitherto and analyses the drivers for new achievements as well as difficulties encountered. Among the drivers, especially the Toyota Production System, problematic characteristics of construction, digitalisation, and sustainability accentuate; in those characteristics, one-off products, site production and temporary project organisation are especially commented. The second part of the presentation addresses new practical developments in Lean Construction, occurring currently and in near future. The Toyota Production System continues to evolve, and the newest methods deserve to be adopted in construction. First experiences regarding the new quality method of Ji Koutei Kanketsu (JKK) are discussed. Takt production, as a way to overcome problems usually seen in site production and temporary project organisations, is analysed. The opportunities for mutual support between lean and the digital are illustrated through the cases of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Whiteboards. Finally, moving to the area of sustainability, the role of lean in circular construction is covered.
