AbstractNanomaterials have proven to be an ideal candidate for increasing the production efficiency of biofuels. The high surface area and unique active sites on the surface of nanomaterials facilitate various reactions and processes that can contribute to biofuel production. However, further research is needed to optimize and enhance the use of nanomaterials in biofuels production. This editorial preface highlights several specific topics, including the application of nanomaterials for immobilizing enzymes, the development of nanomaterials for constructing electrodes and membranes of biofuel cells, and recent advances in biomass processing using nanomaterial supports. The submission of 117 papers on this topic demonstrates the growing interest and importance of using nanomaterials for biofuel production towards a sustainable environment. Out of the 117 papers, 81 were accepted, indicating the potential and relevance of this field of research. The rejection of 31 papers highlights the importance of high-quality research in this field, as well as the need for further investigation and development.
