Title: The Image of War in the Jahiliya (Pre- Islamic era)Poetry
Author: Al Roof Khaleel Abd Salme [خليل عبد سالم الرفوع]
Abstract: This paper analyzes and highlights the war images presented in the poetry of the pre-Islamic era ( The Jahilya period). The study shows that war is portrayed in its most ugliest images; like the image of a pregnant she- camel that provides blood instead of milk, or like an old and barren woman who seems beautiful and then she is transformed into ugly vengeful and bad woman. Or like a burning fire or, an ugly monster. The different images of war presented in the Jahiliya poetry provide a complete picture of war as something despicable.
