Abstract:

The Purpose of this study was to compare the credit and the traditional system of education on the development of some cognitive and personality traits, of Kuwait University students. There were four majour areas of interst the study was concerned with. The areas included developing different types of thinking skills, developing some professional knowledge and skills, developing learning skills, and developing some emotional skills.
The researcher developed a questionnere which consists of the four major areas mentioned above. Validity and reliability of the questionnere were secured. A stratified sample was drawn from among Kuwait University students. There were two groups, Freshmen group and Senior group.
A 3 way Anove was used (2x2x2) with the following variables:
1) Level of students: freshmen x Seniors.
2) Type of Educational System: Credit x Traditional.
3) Sex: Male x Female.
The Main results were as follows:
1) There were significant differences due to variable one in favor of the
senior group.
2) There were significant differences due to the educational system in favor
of the credit system.
3) There were significant differences due to the interaction effect due to
senior male students in most of the questionnere areas.
4) There were significant differences in the area of thinking with most of the
varibales. (sex, Level of study, and system of education.) |
