Abstract

This study deals with the relationship between birth order and the psychological needs and levels of ambition On the basis that such levels of ambition and psychological needs take shape through the Continual interaction between the individual and those who are close to him on the One hand and between him and vary cultural and social aspects on the other. Consequently these levels and needs vary according to birth order which involves interactional pattern Variation whithin the One family. The study Problem has been delimited to attempting the study of Variation in the psychological needs and levels of ambtion among those who come first (or Only), Middle, and last in birh order. The study sample is made up of 336 female students at the University of Qater. The personal prefer¬ences measurement test has been used in measuring the psychological needs whereas the word Formation test has been used in measuring the levels of ambition. Both tests are developed by Dr. Gaber Abdul hamid Gaber. The study conclusions: 1. There is more similarity among students who come middle and last in birth order than among those who come first. 2. In comparing the mean scores of the psychological needs test between the students who come middle and those who come last, there were no statistically significant differences. 3. There were no statistically significant differences between and among the three groups as for as levels of ambition scores are concerned.
